Goals

It is my goal as an art teacher to demonstrate to students that art is all around us! There is artwork on our clothing, the design of our vehicles, the structure of our school... By the end of the year it is my goal to be able to show students a wide variety of artwork by different artists and cultures so students have a better understanding of why art is created. I hope that students will leave the Elementary Art room at the end of 6th grade with a love and appreciation of art and a readiness to continue learning about art as they progress through high school!

About Me

My name is Jen Impey and I am so happy to be returning as the Elementary Art Teacher.  Prior to this I was a substitute teacher at Ogdensburg Free Academy for about a year and a half. I graduated from SUNY Potsdam in 2008 with my undergrad in Studio Art and Art History. I attended St. Lawrence University for my last year of undergrad to obtain my teaching degree in K-12 art. I also completed my graduate work at SUNY Potsdam. I have an MSEd in Curriculum and Instruction which I received in 2009.

I am not originally from the North Country. I grew up in a small town called Eden in Western New York. Eden is a small farming community very similar to this area. The cows tend to out-number the people! My husband of almost two years attended Paul Smiths for culinary arts and works at SUNY Potsdam. We absolutely love camping and being outdoors so we decided to stay in this area.

I love animals and have a budding zoo at home to prove it!  I have a Shepherd-Husky mix named Delilah, two cats named Geronimo and Bonsai and a rabbit named Basil. I also enjoy scrap booking, reading, music and exploring new mediums of art to use.
